In the summer of 2020, we began filming "the journey into contemporary House Music".

It started with a concept by the director of this film, Kristen M. Johnson.

As a lifelong House Music enthusiast, Kristen had a creative vision to tell the story of contemporary House Music culture and its community. She pitched the idea to her film industry friends (directors, producers, cinematographers, etc.) who also share a love of House Music, and three months later "guerilla" style filming commenced during the height of the pandemic!

The short film is merely a peek into the culture as it explores its energy, passion, and euphoria that defines the genre of House Music. This genre has one of the most profound and spiritual relationships with its audience. Particularly, the shared experience between DJs and dancers. After all, where would a DJ be without  dancers?

THE MUSIC GOT ME team (TMGM) initially set out to produce only a promo video/sizzle reel for a House Music documentary. Progressively through the editing process Kristen decided to also make a short film and a three-minute trailer video, using the trailer to promote the film on social media.

Ultimately, our goal is to produce and direct a three part documentary series that will film throughout the USA to explore House Music's alluring nature and eclectic dance/music culture

and communities.
